87th Street Area

Vistas from 101st Street to 94th Street (future)
Following a proposal submitted by the Conservancy to the Parks Department; Senator Marty Goldman secured the allocation of $1.6M to provide clearance of hillside areas from 101st Street to 94th Street along Shore Road. Over many years this area has been unmaintained, become overgrown with many “weed trees” completley obscuring the views for residents and visitors alike. Currently the manner in which this allocation will be used is under review to ensure its quickest and most effecient use in clearing this overgrowth.
101st Street entrance and roadway (future)
One of the issues the Parks Department apparently has with even starting work on repairing the rest rooms and parkhouse at 95th Street is the lack of access for trucks to the area becasue the roadway within the park from 101st Street is in such a poor state of repair.
Working with Senator Marty Goldman and Councilman Vincent Gentile; the Conservancy has gained agreement that Transco will provide repair work to the park roadway in that area. Transco are the company who are currently working in the area adjacent to the Gazebo at 90th Street to install a new expansion chamber to allow natural gas to be deleivered to more home in the Brooklyn area.
